In recent years, smartphones have become the most popular devices for photography, and Android is the most popular mobile operating system. It is not surprising that Google is working on improving the quality of mobile photography, as evidenced by the new API for the camera provided with the Android 5.0 Lollipop.
It is learned that some of the new flagships by the fifth version of the operating system, namely the Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, HTC One M9 and others do not support some of the new features that are implemented by Google.
For example, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are not able to shoot in DNG format and do not have access to the shutter speed setting. Also there is no manual white balance using the RGB-sensor, no manual adjustment of exposure time and so on. The rest of the flagships of 2015 running Android 5.0 Lollipop, including HTC One M9, also do not support these and other functions.
Resource specialist with SpectraStudy studied in detail the new flagship camera and said that manufacturers still have begun work with the new API. Samsung significantly simplify the user interface of the camera, but some of the above features have been added yet.
If you take the Nexus 5 or 6 Nexus from Google, these devices support everything new features, including setting the shutter speed manually set the exposure time, saving photos in original quality and much more.
If you are going to buy one of the new smartphones from Samsung, HTC or another company (except Google), then you will need to use third-party applications , or wait for an update from the manufacturer to get the full feature set that Google offers with the new API.
