Google announced its intention to introduce a global system of rating the content in Play Store along with the introduction of new applications manually pre-moderation employees. These are the main innovations that are going to implement the search giant to protect users from fraud using applications to steal money and personal information, as well as to identify content unsuitable for certain age groups.
Earlier in the Play Store operated a fully automated system for testing and approval of applications.
Adding age rating system will enhance the safety of users and help protect children from "adult" content.
"Today, we present a new age rating system for applications and games on Google Play. We know that people in different countries have different ideas about what content is suitable for children, adolescents and adults. Therefore, our innovation will allow developers to better label their applications right audience" - said in a statement, Google.
Google will rely on developers to maximize those clearly designated audience for whom the games and applications. This will improve the process of finding new applications. Developers can fill in the data age limit for each of the applications and games that are presented in the store Play Store.
New age system from Google includes the official ratings of various international organizations, including the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) and the Pan European Game Information (PEGI). In areas that are not covered by these ratings will be displayed overall age rating. This innovation will begin work in the coming weeks.
For developers, this is a very important change, since without installing rated their application can be blocked in certain areas for a specific age group of users. Since May of this year, setting a rating for apps and games in the Play Store will be a requirement for publication, without which the content simply will not get to the store.
Google employees will monitor the correctness of installation of the ratings for all applications and games that are published in the Play Store, and will monitor that the developers have not changed the rating over time.
